Got time? Why not make a watch? Jonathan Cook is working on an open source smartwatch based on an Arduino-compatible microcontroller. Simply called the Open Source Watch, the steps and parts list are freely available for talented tinkerers to emulate.
The Open Source Watch is controlled by a $10 (USD) Microduino Core. It also has a 1.3″ 128 x 64 OLED display, a Bluetooth Low Energy chip and a 3D printed case. According to Make:, aside from the time and date functions Jonathan is also working on adding other smartwatch functions such as email, Twitter and Facebook integration. He hopes to receive feedback and help from other tinkerers.
Warm up your soldering gun and head to the Open Source Watch website to find out how you can build one.
